Traxxas Slash 4X4 Brushless

Stock is as the vehicle ships. Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart. The top speed is kinematic: an ideal no-load RPM with no slip and no loss under load, so a real car is slower. The maker advertises 50 mph, which is their own claim on their own conditions.

Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (5 mm on the stock motor). How these numbers were settled

The owner's manual gear chart (p. 25) marks an 18T pinion on the 54T spur, 8.54:1, as the out-of-box setup, and the manual gives the formula as spur divided by pinion times 2.85.

• The parts list sets the 18T pinion (5644) and the 54T steel spur (3956X) in regular type as supplied, and both part pages list the Slash 4X4 Brushless as a stock fitment.
• The product page prints 'Gear Ratio (Internal): 11.82:1', which is the 13T and 54T cell of the same chart and does not match the stock gears, so the manual's 8.54 is shown here.
• Traxxas's parts list describes the gears as '0.8 metric pitch, compatible with 32-pitch', while the part pages call them 32-pitch, so the pitch is left blank.
• The stock tire is the Kumho SCT tire (6870), which Traxxas sizes at 4.3 x 1.7 in, so 109 mm.
• Traxxas claims 35+ mph on 2S and 50+ mph on 3S LiPo with no gearing change, about 94% of the no-load speed worked out from these figures.
• The spur drives a Torque Biasing Center Drive, which the manual says is filled with 100K oil; the rear differential is packed with grease.
