About Traxxas

What it stands for

Traxxas says it aims to make it "easy for anyone to get started in radio control."7 It bills itself as the number-one selling name in ready-to-race nitro and electric RC, under the slogan "The Fastest Name in Radio Control."7 Its list of firsts includes the first ready-to-run RC, remote-operated locking differentials, waterproof electronics and self-righting monster trucks.7

Known for

Two of its trucks brought people into the hobby: the T-Maxx got casual buyers involved after years of the hobby struggling to reach the mainstream, and the Slash drew newcomers in through extreme sports and demos while racers formed classes for the Slash alone.4,9 Its replacement parts are widely stocked in hobby shops.10,11,12

Product portfolio

Traxxas sells trucks, cars, speedboats and quadcopters, with a full line of accessories.7 Its cars and trucks run from the 1/18 LaTrax and TRX-4M models up to the 1/7 XO-1 and the X-Maxx, and nearly all of it comes ready to run. Monster trucks make up the largest share, next to short course trucks, stadium trucks, buggies, trail trucks, and rally, drift and on-road cars. The core 1/10 families come in brushed XL-5 and brushless VXL versions, and nitro models such as the T-Maxx 3.3 and Revo 3.3 sit alongside the electric range. Skill levels run from 1 on the LaTrax models to 4 on the T-Maxx 3.3.3,8
