Vehicle questions in search

The header, home, catalog and vehicle search fields accept questions as well as model names and part numbers. Straightforward requests are answered from our search index without sending them to a model provider. For meaning-based retrieval or additional interpretation, our server may send the submitted question, up to three previous questions, selected vehicle identities and relevant published source passages to the configured answer provider, either OpenAI or OpenRouter and its selected model provider. Meaning-based retrieval represents submitted wording as a numerical vector; these query vectors are cached temporarily in server memory under hashed keys and are not added to our catalog or research queue. If our catalog lacks an answer, a bounded web search may use the vehicle identity and a technical topic derived from your question. External findings are labeled as pending verification. Model processing and external research happen only after submission, never while you type. Typing suggestions use our published vehicle directory and part-number search; they do not contact a model provider. Do not include personal or sensitive information. Your Garage setups, photos and saved passes are not sent.

We do not keep the raw text of your questions in our database. We keep token spending records, cache sourced answers for up to 24 hours, and count missing specifications by vehicle and field. A private verification queue retains vehicle identities, controlled technical topics, source links, external findings, occurrence counts and review decisions. It does not retain your raw question, email address or Garage data. Pending research findings can be reused for seven days; the review record remains until an operator removes it. Queue findings are not automatically added to the catalog. To limit automated requests, we keep a daily keyed hash of your IP address and remove it on requests after its 48-hour rate window expires. OpenAI, OpenRouter, its selected model provider and our hosting provider may retain service or abuse-monitoring logs under their own policies when those services are used.

Additional question interpretation can be unavailable when a usage limit is reached. Direct specification, part, guide and verified-procedure lookup remains available.

Information kept on your device

To remember things between visits, the site keeps a small record in your browser’s local storage: your saved setups and recorded GPS passes, the numbers currently in the calculators, the vehicle or setup you last chose, recently viewed vehicles, up to eight recent searches, your pinned and recent tools, and your speed unit. You can clear recent searches from the search dropdown. Search history is not sent to us as a separate record. Photos you add to saved setups are kept separately in your browser’s own database, shrunk to a small size first, and aren’t included when you export your Garage.

Search results pages include the submitted search and, when selected, the vehicle in their address. These can appear in browser history or a link you share. To reopen answers without repeating a request, the current tab keeps up to five recent answers and their question context for ten minutes. This temporary record is kept in your browser session storage and is cleared when the tab closes. Analytics removes query strings and fragments from page addresses.

The calculators work out their results in your browser. This information isn’t sent to us, so we can’t recover it for you. It can disappear if you clear your browser data, if the browser clears space on its own, or when a private browsing window closes, so export a copy from My Garage if it matters to you.

Information collected when you visit

Like any website, the servers that deliver the site process the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. These are used only to deliver pages, keep them fast and protect the site from abuse.

Feedback and email

If you use the feedback form, we receive your email address, the details you enter, and the model or page associated with your report. We send a verification code before accepting the report. Resend delivers these emails, and Neon stores verification records and feedback privately. Reports are reviewed using our investigation tools to check corrections, research tips and conversions, answer questions and track requests. Tips may lead to verified catalog updates; your report and contact details are not published as submitted.

Our feedback service uses a keyed hash of your IP address for abuse limits. Unverified form details are cleared after expiry during subsequent submissions; temporary verification records are removed after seven days during subsequent submissions. Verified reports and email correspondence follow the contact retention policy below. We use your address to handle your feedback, not for marketing.

Cookies and similar technologies

The site doesn’t currently use cookies. In the future we may use cookies, local storage, pixels or similar technologies to:

Some of these may be set by other companies that provide analytics or advertising. Those companies may collect information about your visit, such as your IP address, device and the pages you view, and may combine it with information from other websites to show you ads that suit your interests. Before we add any of them, we’ll list the types and providers on this page, and where the law requires it we’ll ask for your consent first and give you a way to change your choice later.

Accounts

The site has no accounts today. If we add them, we’ll collect what’s needed to run your account, such as your email address and sign-in details, or the basic profile shared by a sign-in service you choose, along with anything you decide to save to it, such as setups and passes. We’ll use that to provide the account, keep it secure and contact you about it, and you’ll be able to delete the account and its data.

How we use information

We use the information described on this page to run the site, keep it secure, fix problems, understand what’s useful and improve it, reply when you contact us, show advertising if we add it, and meet our legal obligations.

Sharing

We share information only with companies that help us run the site, such as the services that deliver the site and, if we add them, analytics, advertising, sign-in or email providers, and only for those purposes. We may also share it when the law requires, to protect the site or its visitors, or as part of a sale or transfer of the site. We don’t sell your personal information. If advertising ever involves sharing information in a way the law treats as a sale or targeted advertising, we’ll say so here and provide the opt-outs the law requires.

Your choices and rights

In My Garage you can export your setups and passes, import them on another device, remove photos, delete single records or clear everything. Clearing this site’s data in your browser settings removes it all, and browser settings can also block or delete cookies.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to or limit how it’s used. To make a request, email us. We’ll respond as the law requires.

How long we keep information

Information on your device stays until you or your browser delete it. Technical request details are kept only for a limited period. Emails you send us are kept only as long as we need them to deal with what you asked.

Children

The site is for a general audience and isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Links to other sites

Spec sheets link to manufacturers’, distributors’ and retailers’ pages and documents. When you follow one, that site’s own privacy policy applies.

Changes and contact

We’ll update this page when our practices change, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. For significant changes, such as adding advertising or accounts, we’ll also make them clear on the site before they take effect. Questions or requests: hello@rctunelab.com.
