Builder's Kit 3 is Element's 1/10 four-wheel-drive crawler chassis kit with the Stealth XF gearbox, built by you and sold without motor, pinion, electronics, body, wheels or tires.
The XF layout moves the motor forward: your pinion meshes with a 45T gear at the front of the gearbox, and the front axle is overdriven. The chassis is 462 mm long, runs 12 mm hexes and comes with 30 wt shock oil. Links for two wheelbase lengths come in the box, so decide on the body before you set the wheelbase.
Weigh each corner to balance the chassis, then work out reduction and axle overdrive.

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft. How these numbers were settled
The Stealth XF gearbox moves the motor forward: the pinion meshes with a 45T/27T running gear (#42316), shown here as the spur, and its 27T side drives a 50T slipper spur.
- Element prints 'Internal Gear Ratio: varies' and ships the gearbox with the 5.7% front overdrive fitted, so the transmission and axle ratio and the final drive are left blank.
- The manual lists 28T and 25T idler gears, 52T and 55T drive gears and 30T/8T ring and pinion gears, and the press release gives the axle ratio as 3.75:1; the top shaft's tooth count is not given, so the front and rear totals are not worked out here.
- The kit ships without motor, pinion, ESC, servo, receiver, body, wheels or tires; Element lists a 540-size motor with a 48-pitch pinion, wheels with 12 mm hex mounting and tires among the items needed to complete it.
- Element's page prints a 313 mm wheelbase and the press release 313 to 325 mm, since links for both lengths are in the box, so the wheelbase is left blank.
