Element RC RC10 Trail Truck Cattleman Kit
1/10 scale · crawler · 40138
The RC10 Trail Truck Cattleman is a 1/10 four-wheel-drive trail truck kit from Element, built by you and supplied with a 20T pinion, wheels and tires but no motor or electronics.
The 20T 48P pinion meshes with an 87T spur ahead of the Stealth X gearbox, which overdrives the front axle slightly. It rolls on tires of about 118 mm with 12 mm hexes, measures 462 mm long on a 313 mm wheelbase, and comes with 30 wt shock oil. Choose a motor that suits the 20T pinion, or change the pinion to match a hotter or milder motor.

Weigh each corner to balance the chassis, then work out reduction and axle overdrive.

Stock is as the vehicle ships. Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart. Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit, or does not have one, like a KV rating on a brushed motor.

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft. Linked part numbers go to the maker's or official distributor's page for that part.
How these numbers were settled
The kit comes with General Grabber X3 tires on Method 701 wheels and a 20T 48P pinion (#1338), which the manual fits without marking it 'Not Included'; the motor, ESC, receiver, servo and battery are marked 'Not Included'.
- Element's spec table prints 'Internal Gear Ratio: varies' because the Stealth X gearbox turns the front and rear axles at different speeds, so the transmission and axle ratio and the final drive are left blank.
- The manual names an 87T 48P Octalock spur (#42035), a fixed 20T-28T-52T front train with the 27T-53T rear pair fitted (5.7% front overdrive), and 30T/8T ring and pinion gears in both axles.
- With the included 20T pinion that works out to about 42.4:1 at the front and 44.8:1 at the rear; the 26T-54T rear pair (11.83% overdrive) would give about 47.4:1 at the rear.
- The 1.9 x 4.65 in tire size comes from Element's product page and the manual's feature list.
