Traxxas TRX-4 Sport High Trail Edition

Stock is as the vehicle ships. Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart. Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit, or does not have one, like a KV rating on a brushed motor.

Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (3 mm on the stock motor). How these numbers were settled

Single-speed TRX-4 Sport on 2.2-inch Canyon Trail tires, geared with a 15-tooth pinion and a 39-tooth spur.

• The owner's manual gear chart (p. 27) marks 15/39 as the factory gearing at 41.08:1, and Traxxas's transmission exploded view for this model shows a 3917 15-tooth pinion on the 8052 39-tooth spur.
• The manual's text still says the truck ships with a 17-tooth pinion, a sentence carried over from the TRX-4 Sport manual; the chart and the drawing agree with each other, so 15 teeth is shown here.
• The manual's formula is spur teeth / pinion teeth x 15.8, and 39/15 x 15.8 = 41.08, the same figure the chart prints.
• The parts list gives the 39-tooth spur in regular type (stock) but prints every pinion in bold (optional), so it does not name the stock pinion.
• The tire is the Canyon Trail 2.2 x 5.3 in, 134.6 mm outside diameter, as printed on the 8170 tire page and in the parts list.
• Portal axles: Traxxas publishes no portal reduction for the 1/10 TRX-4, and 2.5559 is the value that reproduces its printed constants, as on the other TRX-4 sheets.
• The Titan 550 21T motor is brushed, so it has no KV; the XL-5 HV speed control is rated for 2s or 3s LiPo.
