Specs

Traxxas's TRX-4 Ford F-150 is a 1/10 four-wheel-drive crawler on an extended 336 mm wheelbase, sold ready to run with a Titan 550 21T brushed motor and an XL-5 HV speed control.

A 10T pinion drives a 45T spur, and 15.8:1 in the single-speed transmission gives a 71.10:1 final drive. It runs up to a 3S pack through a Traxxas High-Current plug, weighs 2.63 kg and rolls on 116.8 mm tires. The shocks hold 20 wt oil. Both gears are 32P, so a larger pinion gives more speed and a smaller one more crawling torque.

How to read these figures
  • Stock is as the vehicle ships.
  • Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
  • Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit, or does not have one, like a KV rating on a brushed motor.

About teeth, pitch and bore
  • Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
  • Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
  • Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft.

How these numbers were settled

The parts list sets the 10T pinion (6746) and the 45T spur (8053) in regular type, and both part pages name this truck among the stock parts.

  • The owner's manual formula (p. 28) is spur divided by pinion times 15.8, and its chart gives 71.10:1 for 10/45, so that is the final drive.
  • This truck has one speed, so there is no low range.
  • The same manual's text says the truck is equipped from the factory with a 39T spur and a 17T pinion, which is the wording for the TRX-4 Sport (82024-4) and disagrees with this truck's parts list and part pages, so it is not used.
  • The parts list names the Canyon Trail 4.6x1.9 in tire (8270), so the tire is 116.8 mm.
  • The XL-5 HV ESC is rated for 6 to 7 NiMH cells or 2S to 3S LiPo (p. 20), so the maximum is 3 cells.
  • The motor is brushed, so there is no KV rating.
  • The shocks are filled with 20W oil (p. 26).
  • The Chevrolet K10 version (92154-4) lists the same gears and tire, so the figures here apply to it too.
  • The page prints a battery compartment of 23 mm or 26 mm high, so the tray height is left blank.
