Tamiya's TT-02T is the 1/10 four-wheel-drive truck version of the TT-02, a shaft-driven chassis you build from a kit.

It keeps the TT-02's 70T spur and 2.60:1 gearbox and axle stage on the same 257 mm wheelbase, with taller truck suspension for bigger tires. The pinion, motor and tires come with each kit rather than with the chassis, so enter yours in the gearing tool to see the final drive and rollout for the kit you have.

Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. The Gearing parts table below shows this car's pitch and part numbers. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. This one is worked out from the tooth counts the maker publishes. Final drive How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed.

Tire diameter The outside diameter of the mounted tire, tread to tread. A taller tire covers more ground each turn, which gears the car taller. Race tires wear down over a day, and a smaller tire gears the car shorter.

About teeth, pitch and bore

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft.

How these numbers were settled

TT-02T is the truck version of the TT-02 and shares its transmission: the 70T spur and the 2.6 stage after it, derived from Tamiya's TT-02 Type-SRX figures (6.55:1 on 27T/68T gives 2.601).

The Sand Shaker's Japanese spec block prints kit-standard 10.71:1, which is that 2.6 on 17T/70T.
