Tamiya's TT-02FT is the 1/10 four-wheel-drive, shaft-driven TT-02 chassis with four track units in place of wheels, sold as a kit under a pick-up truck body.

It keeps the TT-02 gearbox, a 70T spur and a 2.60:1 gearbox and axle stage, on a 251 mm wheelbase. The pinion and motor come with the kit rather than with the chassis, and Tamiya warns against fitting any motor other than the one supplied, so use the gearing tool to compare pinions within that limit.

Drive All four wheels are driven. That gives more grip under power, especially on loose ground. The cost is more parts to maintain. Build A kit you build yourself from parts. Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. The Gearing parts table below shows this car's pitch and part numbers. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. This one is worked out from the tooth counts the maker publishes. Final drive How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed.

Tire diameter The outside diameter of the mounted tire, tread to tread. A taller tire covers more ground each turn, which gears the car taller. At high speed tires can balloon and grow, so the real gearing gets taller as the car goes faster.

Motor Motor KV is the RPM a motor turns per volt with no load. This vehicle comes without a motor, so there is no stock KV; it depends on the one you fit. Battery The highest LiPo cell count the maker rates the electronics for. This vehicle comes without electronics, so it depends on the ESC and motor you fit.

About teeth, pitch and bore

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft.

How these numbers were settled

TT-02FT is the tracked version of the shaft-driven TT-02: four track units with sprocket wheels and eight rollers each replace the wheels.

The manual's parts page (PDF p. 30) names GB5, a 70T spur gear, in G parts 51531, the same gear bag as the TT-02.
The Landfreeder Quadtrack page prints a gear ratio of 11.38:1 and the manual fits a 16T pinion (step 10, PDF p. 7), so the gearbox and axle stage after the spur is derived: 11.38 x 16/70 = 2.601, the TT-02's 2.6.
The pinion and motor come with the kit, and the manual says not to fit any motor other than the kit motor.
