Background
Top-Force Evo. (2021) brings back Tamiya's 1992 Evolution as a later limited-edition assembly kit. Its pre-painted gunmetal body and slotted rear wing retain the low, angular appearance, while 2 mm carbon-fiber decks, carbon damper stays and a carbon battery holder distinguish it from the FRP Top-Force. The shaft-driven drivetrain includes front and rear ball differentials, a centre one-way mechanism and universal drive shafts at both ends. Ball bearings support the drivetrain and steering, with aluminum-cylinder oil dampers and turnbuckle upper arms completing the chassis. These are included design features, so a conventional list of bearing and universal-shaft upgrades would repeat equipment the kit already has. Factory model information (opens in a new tab). Assembly manual (opens in a new tab).
The supplied Type 540 motor uses a standard 21T pinion, and Tamiya states an 8.59:1 final drive with 82 mm tires. Its manual documents a range of other pinion positions rather than a universal maximum motor specification. The original 58107 Evolution remains a separate historical edition with its own gearing, parts references and electrical completion instructions. Factory model information (opens in a new tab). Assembly manual (opens in a new tab).
Start with the ball differentials, one-way assembly and oil dampers built as shown. The setup section connects tire choice, toe, camber and front-to-rear damping balance to the running surface. Check those adjustments before treating additional aluminum or a faster motor as the next step; the kit's appeal already includes a substantial package of mechanical equipment. How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.

Build and setup
Factory setup guide for this configuration.
The 2021 Evolution already includes carbon decks and stays, ball bearings, front and rear universal shafts and aluminum-cylinder dampers. Keep those parts as the baseline. A generic bearing or universal-shaft upgrade list would duplicate equipment included with the kit.[1] Exact numbered factory assembly manual (opens in a new tab)[2] Factory design history and exact reissue context (opens in a new tab)
Build and check the ball differentials and centre one-way mechanism before adding more motor. Use the exact 47470 instructions for the shaft, pressure plates and spacers. The original 58107 model provides historical context, but its older part numbers do not establish that a later assembly is an exact substitute.[1] Exact numbered factory assembly manual (opens in a new tab)[2] Factory design history and exact reissue context (opens in a new tab)

Start with the 21T pinion and the factory 8.59:1 final drive. The manual charts 16T through 21T alternatives and shows their numbered mounting positions. Change the mounting holes with the pinion, confirm free gear rotation and keep the motor and controller limits separate from this mechanical chart.[1] Exact numbered factory assembly manual (opens in a new tab)[2] Factory design history and exact reissue context (opens in a new tab)
Use the #400 manufacturer-grade oil and normal suspension positions for an initial run. The setup section explains tire choice, toe, camber and front-to-rear damper balance. Make gradual changes for the actual surface before replacing complete dampers or adding chassis hardware.[1] Exact numbered factory assembly manual (opens in a new tab)[2] Factory design history and exact reissue context (opens in a new tab)
