Tamiya's DT-03 is a 1/10 rear-motor, two-wheel-drive buggy chassis with a slim monocoque frame, sold under bodies such as the Racing Fighter and the Neo Mighty Frog.

Tamiya prints 9.28:1 with the 17T pinion and 8.3:1 with the 19T, and both work out to the same spur and gearbox product, so any pinion can be checked against them. The 287 mm wheelbase is long for the class and keeps the buggy steady on rough ground. The spur and gearbox stage are not published, so enter your pinion in the gearing tool.

Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. Final drive, printed How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed.

How these numbers were settled

Tamiya prints 9.28:1 ('ギヤレシオ=9.28:1' on 58587) on the Neo Mighty Frog / Neo Fighter Buggy 58587, the Racing Fighter 58628, the Racing Fighter Chrome Metallic 47347 and the Neo Mighty Frog Green Metallic 47371, and the DT-03 manual fits the kit's 17T pinion (BB9 '17T Pinion gear', step 18, PDF p. 12).

The DT-03 Black Edition 84435 prints 'ギヤレシオ＝8.30：1' and says it comes with a '19Tピニオンギヤ'. 17 x 9.28 = 157.8 and 19 x 8.30 = 157.7, so the two pairs agree.
The manual names the spur BG4 without a tooth count and the gearbox stage is not published, so pinion x ratio is the only gearing fact.
Rear motor, rear-wheel drive, 287mm wheelbase on every kit.
