Tamiya's DT-02 is a 1/10 two-wheel-drive buggy chassis with a bathtub frame and a sealed rear gearbox, sold as kits rather than on its own.

The current kits print a 15.77:1 overall ratio with the small motor and pinion that come in the box, on a 260 mm wheelbase. Tamiya does not publish the spur or the gearbox stage, so that total is the only gearing figure it gives. A larger motor and pinion change it, so enter the parts you run in the gearing tool to see the result.

Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. Final drive How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed.

Tire diameter The outside diameter of the mounted tire, tread to tread. A taller tire covers more ground each turn, which gears the car taller. Race tires wear down over a day, and a smaller tire gears the car shorter.

Motor Motor KV is the RPM a motor turns per volt with no load. This vehicle comes without a motor, so there is no stock KV; it depends on the one you fit. How these numbers were settled

Tamiya prints 'ギヤレシオ=15.77:1' on both DT-02 kits still sold, the Holiday Buggy (2010) 58470 and the RC Buggy Kumamon Version 58615 (Japanese pages; the English 58470 page gives 'Gear Ratio=15.77:1').

Both come with a Type 380 motor and its pinion, and Tamiya names no pinion tooth count for that ratio: the Holiday Buggy manual shows the pinion on the motor and labels the spur GB4 in the gear bag without tooth counts (PDF pp. 6 and 23).
The spur and the gearbox stage are not published, so the printed total is the only gearing fact.
Earlier DT-02 kits with a Type 540 motor print 9.28:1 (Super Fighter G, Neo Falcon, DT-02 MS); they are special-sale kits from before 2015, and since no pinion is printed for either figure the two cannot be compared, so only the current kits' 15.77:1 is listed.
Rear motor, rear-wheel drive, 260mm wheelbase on both kits.
Tamiya's own DT-02 chassis list does not include The Grasshopper II (2017), which keeps its own sheet.
