Specs

Sold ready to run, HPI Racing's Jumpshot MT is a two-wheel-drive 1/10 monster truck with a Firebolt 15T 540 brushed motor and an SC-3SWP2 waterproof speed control.

The 19T pinion and 90T spur, with a 2.72:1 reduction after the spur, make a 12.88:1 final drive. The truck weighs 1.85 kg, measures 420 mm long on a 270 mm wheelbase and rolls on 120 mm tires with 12 mm hexes. The battery box takes NiMH stick packs or a 2S LiPo, so a 2S pack is the simple upgrade over the NiMH pack in the box. Check the gear mesh after any pinion change.

How to read these figures
  • Stock is as the vehicle ships.
  • Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
  • Derived is worked out from gear tooth counts the maker publishes rather than printed as a ratio; the notes below say how.
  • Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit, or does not have one, like a KV rating on a brushed motor.
  • Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.

About teeth, pitch and bore
  • Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
  • Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
  • Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft.

How these numbers were settled

HPI's standard parts list for the Jumpshot MT names a 19T pinion (6919), a 90T spur (115316) and a Firebolt 15T 540 motor (1146).

  • The Jumpshot ST and SC use the same pinion, spur and motor, and HPI's gearing chart in the ST manual prints 12.884 for the 19T pinion, so that total is used here.
  • The MT manual has no gearing chart of its own.
  • The ratio after the spur, 2.72, is worked out from the 12.884 total and the 19T and 90T gears.
  • The tire comes from HPI's part page for the Jump T2.8M tire (115315), which prints OD:120mm and calls it the standard tire on the Jumpshot MT.
  • The kit page gives the length, width, height, wheelbase and a weight of 1.85 kg, and says a 7.2v 2000 mAh NiMH pack and charger are in the box.
  • The kit page says the battery box fits NiMH stick packs and 2S LiPo packs, so 2S is the limit given here, although the SC-3SWP2 part page lists 2-3S LiPo input.
  • The Firebolt 15T is a brushed motor, so no KV applies.
  • The V2 trucks that followed use a 17T pinion and a 12T motor.
