Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (3 mm on the stock motor). Gearing in the box is supplied, not fitted: the fitted set is what the figures and the calculators use. Linked part numbers go to the maker's or official distributor's page for that part.

How these numbers were settled

The owner's manual gear chart (p. 26) marks a 22T pinion on the 76T spur, 9.38:1, as stock gearing, and a 29T pinion on the same spur, 7.12:1, as included optional gearing for high-speed running only.

• The manual works the ratio as spur / pinion x 2.72, the Magnum 272R transmission.
• The parts list sets the 22-tooth pinion (2422), the 29-tooth pinion (2429) and the 76-tooth spur (4676) in regular type, and all three part pages list this car as a stock fitment.
• The product page prints 'Gear Ratio (Internal): 9.82:1', which is the chart's 23T and 83T combination, not the stock gearing, so the manual's figures are shown here.
• The manual says the high-speed pinion is meant for a 2-cell LiPo on race day and can overheat the motor in other driving.
• The VXL-3s ESC is rated for 2 to 3 LiPo cells.
• Traxxas does not publish the Mickey Thompson ET Drag slick's outer diameter, so the tire is left blank.
• The product page prints the battery compartment as 165 x 49.5 mm with two heights, 23 mm and 25 mm, so the tray size is left blank.
• The Chevrolet C10 version (94376-74) shares this manual and the same gears, motor, ESC and tires.
