Specs

Traxxas's 4-Tec 2.0 Brushless Chassis is a 1/10 four-wheel-drive touring car chassis, sold without a body but with a Velineon V3300 brushless motor and a VX3 speed control.

A 31T pinion drives a 62T spur, and 2.85:1 in the transmission gives a 5.70:1 final drive; Traxxas quotes 50 mph. It runs up to a 3S pack through a Traxxas High-Current plug and weighs 1.28 kg. The front diff holds 30K oil and the rear 10K, and the shocks hold 50 wt. Both gears are 48P, so a smaller pinion gives quicker acceleration and less heat on tight tracks.

How to read these figures
  • Stock is as the vehicle ships.
  • Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
  • Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.

About teeth, pitch and bore
  • Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
  • Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
  • Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (3 mm on the stock motor).

How these numbers were settled

The owner's manual gear chart (p. 24) marks a 31T pinion on the 62T spur as the out-of-box setup for 2S or 3S LiPo.

  • The chart cells give only the spur-to-pinion ratio (2.00 for 31/62), and the formula above them multiplies it by 2.85, so the final drive of 5.70:1 is worked out from those figures.
  • The parts list sets the 31T pinion (2431) and the 62T spur (8359) in regular type, and no optional pinion comes in the box.
  • The VX3 ESC accepts 2S or 3S LiPo only (p. 18).
  • Traxxas quotes 35+ mph on 2S and 50+ mph on 3S with no gearing change, and the 3S figure is shown.
  • Traxxas does not publish the outside diameter of the 1.9 in Response tire, so the tire size is left blank.
  • The page prints a battery compartment of 23 mm or 26 mm high, so the tray height is left blank.
  • The chassis is sold without a body and shares its gearing, motor and ESC with the 4-Tec 2.0 Nissan 240SX Brushless (93424-4).
