MRC drift steering for DT-02

Tamiya DT-02

Give the DT-02 front wheels more steering range for drifting with its existing rear-drive layout. The C-hubs need trimming, and the horn and linkage arrangement must follow the chassis-specific branch.

Installation notes

  • MRC explicitly names DT-02 and DT-03 and gives a dedicated installation branch. Use one full MRCGHFS pack. This does not establish DT-03T or DT-04 applicability.
  • Retain the rear drivetrain, original front suspension arms/C-hub mountings and needed stock fasteners. The kit supplies extended C-hubs, knuckles, two free axles, four wheel bearings and hardware. Do not add separate service knuckles or hubs to a complete-kit order.
  • Shave the existing C-hub protrusions and trim the long side of the supplied extended C-hubs until the parts clear at the steering angles shown. Omit the 10 mm knuckle standoffs used in the Grasshopper branch and use the supplied 20 mm standoffs at the arm attachment as illustrated.
  • DT-02 uses its stock servo horn and excludes both the supplied extended horn and high-torque-servo-saver alternative. Do not transfer the DT-03 horn branch.
  • With alternative drift wheels, choose the hub and wheel offset to achieve at least the instructed front clearance, nominally 13 mm combined, then check the actual body/linkage. A compatible rear wheel/tire is also required; a front free-wheel hub is not a rear driven-wheel conversion.
  • Steering travel and toe must be checked throughout the sweep. Increased angle alone does not make stock rubber tires suitable for every surface, and chassis cuts reduce simple reversibility.
  • Use a separate drift gyro, a compatible servo/radio/ESC/motor system, and drift wheels/tires suited to the surface. These electronics and tires are not supplied by the conversion pack. Match any replacement servo horn to the servo spline.
  • Adjust gyro gain to avoid steering oscillation, set servo end points after assembly, and check tires, body and linkage through the full suspension and steering range. Maker setup dimensions are starting points for its P-tile surface, not guaranteed settings for every surface.
