Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (3.175 mm on the stock motor). How these numbers were settled

The brushless Mad Van, geared lower than the brushed Mad Van: Kyosho's Technical Data gives 'Gear Ratio 11.803:1' against the brushed van's 11.69, with the same φ110×70mm tires.

• The spare parts list names a PNGS4822 steel 22T pinion (48P), a 76T metal spur, and a sintered 12T input gear driving a 41T ring gear in the diffs.
• Those tooth counts give 76/22 x 41/12 = 11.803, exactly Kyosho's figure, so the ratio after the spur is 3.417 (41/12).
• Kyosho's TORX 10E page (70615) gives 4000KV and a 3.175mm shaft.
• The BRAINZ 10 V2 ESC (82253) is rated for 2 to 3 cell LiPo, which is the cell count shown here; the manual's battery page says the van takes a 2-cell (7.4V) LiPo or 7.2V NiMH pack.
• Kyosho says the brushless power lifts top speed from 40 to 60 km/h (about 37 mph), close to the 59 km/h that 4000KV on a fully charged 2S pack gives in theory with this ratio and tire.
