Kyosho Psycho Kruiser VE 2.0 Readyset

Stock is as the vehicle ships. Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart. Derived is worked out from gear tooth counts the maker publishes rather than printed as a ratio; the notes below say how. Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it. The top speed is kinematic: an ideal no-load RPM with no slip and no loss under load, so a real car is slower. The maker advertises 49 mph, which is their own claim on their own conditions.

Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft. How these numbers were settled

Kyosho's Technical Data gives 'Gear Ratio: 17.2:1' and 'Tire (F/R): 148 x 66mm'.

• The spare parts list names the 12T pinion (IF505-12, 'Pinion Gear (12T/VE)') and the 48T spur (IFW125, 'Spur Gear (48T)'), and Kyosho's parts listing for this SKU gives the diff bevels as a 10T drive gear (IS118) and 43T ring gear (IS117).
• That puts the ratio after the spur at 43/10 = 4.3, and 48/12 x 4.3 = 17.2, matching Kyosho's figure.
• The chassis has three diffs, with the spur on the center diff.
• The motor is the KYOSHO SPEED HOUSE TORX 8 at 2000KV, and the manual's settings table for the BRAINZ 8 SiX ESC runs to 6 LiPo cells; Kyosho asks for two 3-cell LiPo packs (or two 7.2V NiMH packs).
• Kyosho quotes 'top speeds of more than 80km/h' (about 49 mph) on 6S, a little under the roughly 51 mph this gearing gives in theory on a fully charged pack.
• The instruction manual's file is named VE3_0 but its cover reads PSYCHO KRUISER VE 2.0.
• Kyosho lists this Readyset as discontinued (sale date November 2019).
