Traxxas Jato 3.3

Stock is as the vehicle ships. Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart. Derived is worked out from gear tooth counts the maker publishes rather than printed as a ratio; the notes below say how. Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit, or does not have one, like a KV rating on a brushed motor. Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.

Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft. Linked part numbers go to the maker's or official distributor's page for that part.

How these numbers were settled

Nitro, powered by a TRX 3.3 engine, so there is no KV rating or cell count and the electric no-load speed cannot be worked out.

• The Jato has an automatic two-speed transmission: Traxxas prints 'Gear Ratio (Internal): 9.77:1 (1st gear total gear reduction) 7.29:1 (2nd gear total gear reduction)', and these are complete final drives.
• Second (high) gear, 7.29:1, is shown as the final drive; first gear is 9.77:1.
• The manual (p. 38) says the truck ships with a 24-tooth clutch bell and a 54-tooth spur, and its gear chart marks 9.77 and 7.29 for that pair as the stock configuration.
• The parts list sets the 24T clutch bell (4124) and 54T spur (3956) in regular type, and the clutch bell's part page lists the Jato 3.3 as a stock fitment.
• The ratio after the spur in second gear works out at 7.29 x 24 / 54 = 3.24.
• Traxxas describes the stock Anaconda tires only as 2.8-inch, which is the wheel size, so the tire diameter is left blank.
• The 65+ mph figure is Traxxas's own claim for the truck.
