Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (5 mm on the stock motor). Linked part numbers go to the maker's or official distributor's page for that part.

How these numbers were settled

The owner's manual gear chart (p. 23-24) marks a 16T pinion on the 54T spur as the out-of-box gearing, with a 9.61:1 overall ratio, and gives the formula spur / pinion x 2.84.

• The parts list sets the 16T pinion (5652) and the 54T steel spur (3956X) in regular type as supplied, and both part pages list this truck as a stock fitment.
• The product page prints 'Gear Ratio (Internal): 13.97:1', which is the chart's figure for an 11T pinion on the same spur, so the chart's 9.61 is shown here.
• Traxxas describes the pinions and spur as '0.8 metric pitch, compatible with 32-pitch' in the parts list and as 32-pitch on the part pages, so the pitch is left blank.
• Traxxas does not publish a tire diameter, so it is left blank.
• The product page lists Talon EXT tires, but the parts list sets the RXT wheels with Sledgehammer ST tires (9170-BLK) in regular type, and the Talon EXT set (6773) is listed as an accessory for this truck.
• The 50 mph claim is for a 3S LiPo with the stock gearing ('no gearing change required'); 35+ mph is quoted for 2S.
