Traxxas Bandit XL-5 with Battery

Stock is as the vehicle ships. Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart. Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit, or does not have one, like a KV rating on a brushed motor. Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.

Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (3 mm on the stock motor). Gearing in the box is supplied, not fitted: the fitted set is what the figures and the calculators use. Linked part numbers go to the maker's or official distributor's page for that part.

How these numbers were settled

The owner's manual gear chart (p. 29) marks a 21T pinion on the 83T spur as the stock Bandit gearing at 10.75:1 and a 31T pinion on the same spur (7.28:1) as included optional high-speed gearing, and the manual says to install the included high speed gearing for more top speed on hard surfaces.

• The parts list sets the 21T pinion (2421) and the 83T spur (4683) in regular type as supplied, and both part pages list this buggy as a stock fitment.
• The product page prints '2.72 (final drive: 12.34)'; 2.72 is the transmission ratio, but 12.34 matches no pinion and spur pair in the chart, so the chart's 10.75 is shown here.
• The Titan 12T 550 is a brushed motor, so no KV applies.
• The XL-5 ESC accepts 4 to 7 NiMH cells or a 2S LiPo; the box includes a 7-cell 8.4 V NiMH pack and a USB-C charger.
• The 35 mph claim is for the included 7-cell pack.
• Traxxas does not publish a tire diameter for the stock 2.2 inch Alias tires, so it is left blank.
• The rear wheels mount on pinned stub axles and no wheel hex size is published.
• The only regular-type shock oil in the parts list is 30 wt (5032); the manual does not name the factory fill.
• This is the brushed Bandit; the Bandit VXL (24076-74) is a separate model.
