Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft (5 mm on the stock motor). Linked part numbers go to the maker's or official distributor's page for that part.

How these numbers were settled

The owner's manual gear chart marks the 14-tooth pinion on the 54-tooth spur as the out-of-box setup, at 10.98:1, and its formula is spur / pinion x 2.85.

• The parts list sets the 14-T pinion (5640) and the 54-tooth steel spur (3956X) in regular type as supplied, and both part pages list this truck as a stock fitment.
• The product page prints 'Gear Ratio (Internal): 15.36:1', which matches 10-tooth gearing (54/10 x 2.85, the Stampede 4X4 BL-2s setup) rather than this model's stock gears, so the manual's 10.98 is shown here.
• The product page quotes 50+ mph on 3S with no gearing change, which fits 10.98 rather than 15.36.
• Traxxas does not publish the diameter of the stock Talon MXT tires, so the tire size is left blank.
• The parts list calls both gears 0.8 metric pitch and compatible with 32-pitch, so no pitch is shown.
