Tamiya's MB-01 is a 1/10 two-wheel-drive chassis that you build from a kit, sold under compact classic and touring car bodies.

Every kit on it shares the 65T spur and a 2.60:1 gearbox and axle stage, and the chassis builds to three wheelbases, 210 mm, 225 mm and 239 mm, with front or rear drive chosen at assembly. A larger pinion gives more top speed and a smaller one more punch out of slow corners. The pinion, motor and tires come with each kit rather than with the chassis, so enter yours in the gearing tool.

Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. This one is worked out from the tooth counts the maker publishes. Final drive How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed. On-road racers often compare gearing by rollout instead, because tire sizes differ between cars.

Tire diameter The outside diameter of the mounted tire, tread to tread. A taller tire covers more ground each turn, which gears the car taller. Race tires wear down over a day, and a smaller tire gears the car shorter.

Motor Motor KV is the RPM a motor turns per volt with no load. This vehicle comes without a motor, so there is no stock KV; it depends on the one you fit. How these numbers were settled

Every MB-01 kit shares the 65T spur and the gearbox and axle stage after it.

Tamiya's Mini Cooper Racing page prints 'ギヤ比＝5.83(キット標準の29Tピニオン/65Tスパーギヤ使用時）' (5.83:1 with the kit-standard 29T pinion and 65T spur), so the ratio after the spur is derived: 5.83 x 29/65 = 2.60.
Every current MB-01 kit page prints the same 5.83:1 on the 29T pinion, and Tamiya says the gearbox takes the TT-02 hop-up differentials.
The pinion, motor and tires come with each kit, so they are not part of the chassis figures: enter yours in the gearing tool.
Tamiya says the chassis 'gives a choice of three types of wheelbase': the kit pages print 210mm (short), 225mm (middle) and 239mm (long), so all three are shown.
Front or rear drive is chosen at assembly by turning the final gears and steering linkage around.
