Specs

Redcat Racing's Blackout XBE Pro is a four-wheel-drive 1/10 buggy powered by a 540 brushless motor rated at 3800 KV, with a 60A waterproof speed control.

The 17T pinion drives a 55T spur, and the 109 mm tires sit on 12 mm hexes. The buggy measures 427 mm long on a 290 mm wheelbase. A 3800 KV motor spins very fast, and the speed control's own off-road limit on 3S is a lower KV, so a smaller pack suits it. The pinion is where you control speed and heat, so go smaller on grass and rough ground.

How to read these figures
  • Stock is as the vehicle ships.
  • Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
  • Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.

About teeth, pitch and bore
  • Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
  • Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
  • Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft.

How these numbers were settled

The Blackout XBE Pro manual's parts identification page lists a BS214-005 marked '17T Motor gear', a BS214-008 '540 Brushless Motor KV3800' and an HW-WP-10BL60-RTR-D Hobbywing 60A ESC, with a 7.4v 3200 mAh LiPo and balance charger.

  • The BS213-026 spur is marked 'Spur Gear 55T' in the manual of the matching XBE, and Redcat's part page for BS213-026 prints 'Spur Gear 55T (.8 Module)' and names the Blackout XBE Pro.
  • The reduction after the spur and the final drive are left blank because the diff and gear shaft units have no published tooth counts.
  • The tire diameter comes from Redcat's part page for the black pre-mounted 1/10 truck tires and wheels (BS214-009), which prints an overall diameter of 109mm and names the Blackout XBE Pro; the manual lists the same part.
  • The specifications page gives 427 mm long, 280 mm wide, 140 mm high without body and a 290 mm wheelbase.
  • Hobbywing rates the QuicRun WP-10BL60 for 2-3S LiPo, but its own limit for off-road trucks on 3S is a motor under 3000KV, so this 3800KV motor is meant for a smaller pack than 3S and the truck ships with a 2S pack.
  • The 3S rating is what is shown here.
  • Redcat's own page for the XBE Pro on archive.org from 26 April 2015 lists the model.
