Background
The 124018 Explorer 4WD Buggy belongs to WLtoys' small electric off-road range. The supplied 550 brushed motor runs from the included 7.4V pack. An aluminum chassis and oil-filled dampers provide a conventional serviceable off-road layout, with numbered spares available through the Japanese distributor. Hitec lists 6 November 2021 as the introduction date for its Japanese package. The package includes the vehicle, transmitter, LiPo battery, USB charging lead and hand tool. Hitec publishes a model-specific spare-parts list alongside the vehicle, which is useful when replacing suspension, drivetrain or body components. Check the complete model identifier and the equipment already fitted before choosing spares, especially when working on an imported or previously modified car. How to read these figures
- The rollout difference needs both tire diameters and axle reductions. The connection between axle inputs is not recorded, so its ability to accommodate a mismatch is unknown. These figures do not predict vehicle road speed.
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Single report uses one outside source. It is useful as a starting figure, with the source and calculation described in the note.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.

Upgrades and setup
Choose suspension changes for a specific problem on the 124018. Geoffrey Chan's documented build compared original plastic, alternative plastic and alloy arms before fitting the harder plastic option. He favored a compromise between rigidity, weight and some flex. It is one builder's comparison, without a measured failure-rate study, so it does not establish that every stock arm should be replaced.[1] Geoffrey Chan 124018 suspension and steering build (opens in a new tab)
Alloy is a tradeoff at the moving suspension. The build's arm comparison found a substantial weight increase and noted that some versions lose the droop-screw provision. That can change what you can adjust as well as what the arm weighs. Check the exact replacement's mounting and adjustment features rather than ordering solely because the listing says metal.[1] Geoffrey Chan 124018 suspension and steering build (opens in a new tab)

The same build used different hubs and larger sealed bearings after the builder's previous hub breakages. Treat that as a complete documented assembly change, not permission to put a bearing of the same outer diameter into any stock hub. Compare the build's hub, bearing and driveshaft requirements together. Keep serviceable stock parts where you have no corresponding failure or setup need.[1] Geoffrey Chan 124018 suspension and steering build (opens in a new tab)
