Background
The Midget 4.0 represents a small open-wheel oval car with front and rear straight axles, a driver figure, engine headers and a tail tank. This revision updates the front axle and kingpins, metal-gear steering servo, hood and side panel. The rear axle uses radius rods, a Panhard bar and adjustable friction shocks. A supplied brushless motor, radio, steering servo, rechargeable NiMH battery and charger complete the ready-to-run package. Paint is required for the clear body.

A solid rear axle carries the rear wheels together, with the suspension locating that axle as an assembly. Check link and driveshaft clearance through the suspension travel when changing axle position or ride height. Source details (opens in a new tab)
This package reproduces an oval-racing body and suspension layout at small scale. The tyre specification belongs to its dirt or asphalt class, so matching the surface and class rules comes before changing power equipment. Keep the exact revision beside the parts list when comparing similarly named 1RC models. Source details (opens in a new tab)
The rear suspension uses a solid axle with scale-style locating hardware. Those axle and link settings work together, so record the baseline rather than changing several mounting positions at once. A tyre or body conversion does not by itself establish that every suspension component is shared. Source details (opens in a new tab)

- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
Build and setup
Factory setup guide for this configuration.
Keep the Midget 4.0's steering setup simple until the car tracks consistently. If the servo moves but the wheels do not, inspect the servo saver and steering linkage before buying a replacement servo. For a car that pushes wide on corner entry, the factory sheet offers more steering dual rate or less right-front spring tension. Reverse those choices if the entry is too sharp.[1] 1/18 Midget 4.0 factory setup manual (opens in a new tab)
For an exit push, try more right-rear spring tension; reduce it if the car rotates too readily on exit. Make one change at a time and keep the entry and exit symptoms separate. If the motor will not sit still at neutral, check throttle trim and calibration rather than treating it as a need for more power. The supplied ESC's red flashes at startup indicate a throttle-neutral mismatch; repeating short green warning flashes indicate thermal protection, which calls for cooling and inspection.[1] 1/18 Midget 4.0 factory setup manual (opens in a new tab)
