Background
The XV-01 PRO was introduced in July 2012 as a four-wheel-drive rally chassis kit for both paved surfaces and dirt. It places the motor at the front and drives both axles by belt, with a covered main chassis, belt drive and radio compartments intended to keep debris away from the mechanism. Factory model reference (opens in a new tab).

The PRO specification adds TRF dampers and oil-filled gear differentials. Inner fenders help manage dirt, while openings in the underside allow small stones and debris to leave the chassis. The battery loads through a bottom hatch, so routine pack changes do not require removal of the body. Factory model reference (opens in a new tab).
Tamiya publishes an 8.04:1 standard reduction using a 22T pinion and 68T spur. The factory manual gives a 2.60:1 internal reduction through the rest of the drive. The motor, body and radio equipment are separately selected; the supplied rally wheels and tires belong to this exact kit rather than every XV-01 body package. Factory model reference (opens in a new tab).
After dusty runs, clear the chassis and belt covers before debris becomes a source of drag. Set the oil dampers and ride height around the surface being used, retaining enough travel for rough sections. A large motor change is less useful if the belt, suspension or tire clearances are binding. Factory model reference (opens in a new tab).

How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
