Tamiya's WR-02C is the small-tire version of the WR-02, a 1/10 rear-drive wheelie chassis sold as the Honda City Turbo kit.

Tamiya prints 16.5:1 on the kit's 20T pinion and 18.3:1 on an optional 18T, and does not publish the spur or the gear train behind them, so the pinion and those totals are the only gearing figures. The wheelbase is 185 mm. The pinion, motor and tires come with each kit rather than with the chassis, so enter yours in the gearing tool.

Drive Only one axle is driven, the rear on almost every 2WD RC car. It is lighter and simpler, and it takes more throttle control on loose ground. Build A kit you build yourself from parts. Most kits come without motor, ESC, servo, radio and battery, and many without tires or a painted body. The manual lists what to add. Scale The maker's nominal size compared with a full-size vehicle. Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. Final drive, printed How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed.

Tire diameter The outside diameter of the mounted tire, tread to tread. A taller tire covers more ground each turn, which gears the car taller. At high speed tires can balloon and grow, so the real gearing gets taller as the car goes faster.

How these numbers were settled

The WR-02C is the WR-02 gearbox under the Honda City Turbo, with 70mm tires and a 185mm wheelbase.

Tamiya publishes neither the spur tooth count nor the ratio of the gear train after it: the City Turbo manual (58611.pdf p. 18) shows the 20T pinion (BG11) and an options box printing '18T 18.3:1' and '20T 16.5:1' (included in kit); the kit page prints 'ギヤ比=1:16.5', the 20T.
Pinion and total are the only gearing facts.
The City Turbo is a spot re-run in Tamiya's status file, first sold in 2015 and re-run in 2025.
