The MAN TGX 26.540 6x4 XLX Light Metallic Blue Edition is a 1/14-scale radio-control truck assembly kit. This edition includes a factory-painted body finish. Painted body parts and markings should be ordered for this exact edition, even when the underlying chassis follows an earlier kit. Model and configuration (opens in a new tab).

Its ladder-frame chassis uses metal components to reproduce a full-size truck's construction. Leaf-spring suspension and rear-axle drive put the emphasis on scale hauling and careful low-speed control. The transmission changes gear through the radio, so the steering servo and shift linkage need to be set up together. Chassis and controls (opens in a new tab).
Tamiya publishes three overall reductions: 32.49:1, 17.76:1 and 10.66:1. Low gear gives slower wheel movement for maneuvering or hauling, while top gear covers more ground at the same motor speed. Set the shift servo's travel so that each gear engages cleanly before running under load. Transmission specifications (opens in a new tab).
Plan the electronics before filling the cab and chassis with extra equipment. Tamiya's optional sound-and-light control systems add scale functions, but the radio, speed control and accessory package vary by market. The international kit identity here does not include equipment shown only for a Japanese full-set package. Regional equipment notes (opens in a new tab).
A brushed motor carries current through carbon brushes that rub on the commutator.
It is cheaper and smooth at low speed.
The brushes wear and the motor loses power over time.
Build
A kit you build yourself from parts.
Most kits come without motor, ESC, servo, radio and battery, and many without tires or a painted body.
The manual lists what to add.
Scale
The maker's nominal size compared with a full-size vehicle. It works more as a class label than a measurement.
A 1/10 monster truck is far bigger than a 1/10 touring car, so compare length and weight for real size.
This one is 526 mm long.
Part number
The maker's product number for this exact version.
A V2, a new color, or a kit instead of an RTR usually has a different number, and parts can differ between them.
Check it against your box or receipt before ordering parts.

Drivetrain
Pinion
The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite.
It depends on the motor you fit, so the maker does not list one.
Spur
The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter.
Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh.
Transmission & axle, high range
Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears.
It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur.
This is the high range, which sets top speed and is what the calculators load first.
Final drive, high range
How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed.
This is the high range, which sets top speed and is what the calculators load first.
Final drive, low range
The final drive in low range, where a crawler spends most of its time: slower and stronger, for climbs and fine control.
It is 3.0 times the high range.
Switch the calculators to Low to work in this range.
Range change
This vehicle has a two-speed transmission: a high range for speed and a low range for crawling.
A small servo moves the shift fork, so the range changes from a switch on the transmitter, even on the move.
