Losi Mini 8IGHT
1/14 scale · buggy · LOS01004
SpecsThe Mini 8IGHT is Losi's 1/14 four-wheel-drive buggy, sold ready to run with a Dynamite Fuze Mini 4500Kv brushless motor and a Tazer Mini waterproof speed control.
A 16T pinion on a 58T spur and 2.6:1 inside the transmission give a final drive of 9.4:1, the number of motor turns for each turn of the wheels. On a 3S pack that works out to about 47 mph on 75.87 mm tires, but the included pinion is meant for the Ni-MH pack, so fit the smaller pinion Losi lists for LiPo before you run 3S.

How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- The top speed is kinematic: an ideal no-load RPM with no slip and no loss under load, so a real car is slower.

About teeth, pitch and bore
- Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
- Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
- Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft.
How these numbers were settled
Losi's spec table prints a 14T pinion, but the manual's gearing chart marks the 16T pinion as the stock gearing for the included Ni-MH pack and lists 14T for 2S and 12T for 3S as lower-ratio swaps.
- The 16T pinion on the 58T spur at 2.6:1 works out to 9.43:1, which matches the 9.4:1 final drive Losi prints, so 16T is used here, and Horizon's part page for the 16T pinion LOSB1864 lists it as the standard part.
- The tire is the 2.98 in (75.87 mm) outer diameter in Losi's spec table.
- The manual's chart allows a 3S pack with the 12T pinion, so the cell count is 3; at 3S with the 16T pinion the figures work out to about 47 mph, and the manual warns that a LiPo pack on the 16T pinion will overheat the motor.
- Losi prints no speed claim for this buggy.
