Kyosho KB10W Mad Wagon VE Readyset

Stock is as the vehicle ships. Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart. Derived is worked out from gear tooth counts the maker publishes rather than printed as a ratio; the notes below say how. Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it. The top speed is kinematic: an ideal no-load RPM with no slip and no loss under load, so a real car is slower.

Gearing parts

Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above. Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close. Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft. How these numbers were settled

Kyosho's Technical Data gives 'Gear Ratio 15.22:1' and 'Tires (F & R) φ128 x 70mm'.

• The manual's motor page (p. 32) marks the S13T pinion as standard with the 46T spur, allows 14T and 15T for on-road driving, and says 16T and up do not fit the Mad Wagon.
• The parts list names KB030-S13 'Pinion Gear S13T (M1.0/KB10)', KB031-46 'Spur Gear 46T (M1.0/KB10)', and a 10T drive bevel (KB032-10) with a 43T ring gear (KB033-43) in each axle.
• That puts the ratio after the spur at 43/10 = 4.3, and 46/13 x 4.3 = 15.22, matching Kyosho's figure.
• The KB10W has a slipper on the spur and no center diff.
• The motor is the TORX10L at 2850KV, and the manual's settings table for the BRAINZ 10 Plus 80A ESC runs to 3 LiPo cells.
• Kyosho quotes a top speed of 75km/h, but this gearing gives about 57 km/h in theory on a fully charged 3S pack, so that figure is not shown here.
• The battery space is given as 143x47x30mm.
• Kyosho lists this Readyset as discontinued (sale date August 2022).
