Background
The TT-01R Type-E arrived in December 2009 as a race-oriented development of Tamiya's TT-01 Type-E touring chassis. It retains the longitudinal-motor, shaft-driven four-wheel-drive layout, with a selection of factory tuning parts intended to make the basic touring car more adjustable. Factory model reference (opens in a new tab).

CVA Super Mini oil dampers, adjustable upper arms and toe-in rear uprights provide suspension changes that the basic Type-E does not offer in the same form. The aluminum propeller shaft and joints reduce driveline mass, while full bearings, a Lightly-Tuned motor and radial tires make this a specific equipment package rather than a cosmetic body variation. Factory model reference (opens in a new tab).
Its published setup uses 63mm tires and 22T/61T gearing at 7.21:1 according to the factory instructions. A touring body, speed controller, radio, running battery and charger still need to be selected for the build. Start with the supplied motor and consistent tire grip before changing the gearing; the adjustable suspension gives useful work to do without adding power. How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Derived uses recorded dimensions or arithmetic. The row explains the inference. A nominal mating size is not a measured tolerance or a complete fitment guarantee.
- Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
