Specs

Primal RC's 1/5 Dodge Challenger Electric is a rear-wheel-drive street car, sold ready to run with a 960KV brushless motor.

A 14T pinion on the 55T spur, with a 2.4:1 internal stage, gives a 9.43:1 final drive. It is 1003 mm long and rolls on 145 mm tires, and its ESC is rated up to 8S. Pick your pack within that 8S limit before you change the pinion.

How to read these figures
  • Stock is as the vehicle ships.
  • Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
  • Derived is worked out from gear tooth counts the maker publishes rather than printed as a ratio; the notes below say how.
  • Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
  • The top speed is kinematic: an ideal no-load RPM with no slip and no loss under load, so a real car is slower.

About teeth, pitch and bore
  • Tooth counts are the ones in the specifications above.
  • Pitch is given as metric module (Mod 1, Mod 0.8) or diametral pitch (32P, 48P). They are different standards and are not interchangeable, even where the numbers look close.
  • Bore is the pinion’s hole, listed separately from the motor shaft.

How these numbers were settled

Primal RC's 1/5 Dodge Challenger comes as an electric or a petrol car; these figures are for the electric one, a rear-wheel-drive street car with a single-speed, three-gear transmission.

  • Its manual lists a 14T pinion on a 55T spur, then a 20T layshaft gear, a 30T idler and a 48T differential gear, so the stage after the spur reduces 2.4:1 and the whole drive 9.43:1.
  • The manual's equipment list names a 960KV brushless motor and a 200A ESC, and Primal RC's page for that ESC rates it for 3S to 8S LiPo.
  • The 145mm tire is the size in Primal RC's specification table and on its Challenger tire part pages.
  • The petrol Challenger uses a different 19T clutch gear and is not covered by these figures.
