Awesomatix's A12X is a 1/12 electric pan car kit that you build yourself, sold without motor, electronics, gears or tires.

The spur mounts on the rear axle, so the ratio after it is 1:1 and the final drive is simply the spur divided by the pinion you fit. The side and rear springs work independently of each other, as on a traditional pan car. Choose a spur and pinion in the same pitch, and check the manual's limit on their combined tooth count before you buy them.

Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. This one is worked out from the tooth counts the maker publishes. Final drive How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed. On-road racers often compare gearing by rollout instead, because tire sizes differ between cars.

How these numbers were settled

1/12 electric pan car kit whose side and rear spring actions are independent.

Awesomatix lists the pinion, spur gear, motor, speed controller, battery, body and tires as not included, so there is no stock pinion, spur, total ratio or tire size.
The manual's rear axle steps (24 and 25) carry the spur, so there is no reduction after it and the ratio after the spur is 1:1, worked out from that layout rather than printed.
The manual takes 64 pitch or 48 pitch gears and says the sum of the 64DP spur and pinion teeth should be within the range 112 to 120.
Its base setup for the rear damper is 100,000 cSt silicone oil.
