Proportional control and independent suspension make the platform a useful small-scale reference for maintenance and setup work. Preserve the full model suffix and compare the fitted motor, gears and electronics before ordering replacements. Later battery bundles and seller descriptions vary, so the original package specifications do not establish every currently supplied configuration. Model information (opens in a new tab).

How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Single report uses one outside source. It is useful as a starting figure, with the source and calculation described in the note.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
Upgrades and setup
For an early brushed A949, check that the suspension returns freely before buying more motor power. In one 2016 build, the owner moved the shock mounting positions inward to gain clearance after finding that the front end sat low. Check the resulting ride height and body clearance on your own car rather than assuming that a stiffer spring is the first fix.[1] Early brushed A949 setup and later battery-build follow-up (opens in a new tab)
Extra battery weight changes the handling as well as runtime. The same build used printed holders for a much heavier NiMH pack and reported steadier straight-line running but less agility in corners. That is one modified rally setup, with its own spring and mounting changes, rather than evidence that a larger pack improves every A949.[1] Early brushed A949 setup and later battery-build follow-up (opens in a new tab)
