Background
The Brian Kinwald RC28 ZOOM brings an RC10 racing livery to a small ready-to-run buggy. Its finished body, rubber tires and included radio make it an accessible way to enjoy the appearance of an Associated classic without assembling a full-size kit. Model and box contents (opens in a new tab).

The body draws on Brian Kinwald's RC10, with the factory manual identifying his 1993 IFMAR 2WD Modified world title. The livery connects this miniature to Associated's racing history, while its integrated battery and included transmitter suit casual driving. Factory model information (opens in a new tab).
The manual calls for dry, hard surfaces and identifies the car as unsuitable for wet conditions. Keep that operating scope in mind when planning a course. It also explains steering trim and radio binding, useful references if the car no longer tracks straight or the radio connection needs to be restored. Operating manual (opens in a new tab).

Build and setup
Factory setup guide for this configuration.
Set up the RC28 ZOOM with the supplied transmitter before looking for extra parts. Switch the car off before connecting its charging lead to a 5V DC USB supply with an output current below 2A. The green charging indicator goes out when charging is complete; unplug the lead before driving. Then switch the transmitter on first and adjust steering trim during a slow straight pass. If the car will not connect, its flashing vehicle LED indicates binding is still in progress; wait for a solid light and keep another binding car away from it.[1] RC28 ZOOM Brian Kinwald RTR factory setup and maintenance instructions (opens in a new tab)
