Background
The original RC10 established Associated’s aluminum-tub electric off-road buggy line in 1984. Its gold-anodized chassis, oil-filled shocks, ball differential and independent suspension became the foundation for a series of revisions. Basic kit 6000 was the version supplied without electrical equipment; other packages added different combinations of motor, speed control, bearings and battery. An original RC10 is not identified by its gold chassis alone. Associated reused kit numbers and made running changes before the Championship Edition and Stealth-transmission cars. The assembly manual also describes racing results after the original introduction. Match the transmission, suspension and wheel equipment to the particular car rather than borrowing dimensions or gearing from a later Classic reissue. How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
Build and setup
Factory setup guide for this configuration.
Identify the transmission, suspension arms and wheel arrangement before ordering parts for an original RC10. The aluminum tub spans several factory revisions, and later Stealth components do not describe every early car. Establish free steering and suspension movement, check the differential and gear mesh, and match the hardware to the assembly shown in the appropriate instructions. The original six-cell references describe period batteries, not a six-cell LiPo system.[1] RC10 Original Basic Kit factory assembly material (opens in a new tab)

About these specs
Original configuration; identify the fitted tires, gearing and electronics on a restored car. Period battery-cell references do not establish a modern LiPo rating.
