Center differential for XV-02 PRO 58707

Tamiya XV-02 PRO Chassis Kit · 58707

Add a center differential if you want the front and rear wheels to turn at different speeds through corners. Its oil controls how freely they differ, and it adds a sealed assembly to maintain.

Installation notes

  • Use one 22049 differential pack and one 22050 center spur pack. The 22050 pack includes the 70T spur, matching case and gasket; the 39T ring gear and redundant case/gasket from 22049 are not additional purchases.
  • Build the center unit with the 22050 spur/case/gasket and the differential internals, joint cups, 1280 bearings, shims, seals and screws from 22049. Retain the chassis propeller shafts and center housing; remove the original fixed center shaft/spur assembly.
  • The exact chassis manual specifies silicone oil #30000 for this center assembly. The #3000 oil supplied in 22049 is its axle-differential baseline and is not the stated center baseline. Obtain the required oil separately if it is not already available.
  • Choose this center differential or the 22048 slipper clutch. They replace the same fixed center drive and cannot be combined. This preserves 4WD while allowing front and rear wheel speeds to differ.
  • Different front/rear 39T and 40T ring gears are a separate setup choice. The manual recommends a center differential or slipper when unequal ratios are used on high-grip surfaces; adding this center unit does not require unequal axle ratios.
  • Retain the kit urethane bushings in the center drive cups and check shaft fit while refitting the housing. A handling improvement depends on oil, surface and driving style; adding a center differential also adds a sealed unit to service.
