MRC rear-drive drift conversion for TT-01 Type-E

Tamiya TT-01 Type-E

Convert the TT-01 Type-E from four-wheel drive to rear-drive drifting with a wider range of steering movement. It needs drift electronics, wheels and chassis trimming, and gives up its original four-wheel-drive layout.

Installation notes

  • MRC explicitly lists all TT-01 types, which includes the accepted TT-01 Type-E chassis. This is the full MRCTT01FS set and its Ver. 3.1 instructions, not the cheaper hardware-omitting or plastic-only pack.
  • One pack supplies front upper/lower arms, knuckles, steering wipers, two free front axles, eight bearings and the associated rods, balls, posts and fasteners. Retain stock chassis, rear drivetrain, usable front shocks, pins, wheel hubs and required screws.
  • Remove the center propeller shaft, front drive components and replaced front steering/suspension parts as shown. Preserve removed parts if later returning to 4WD; cutting may still prevent an unmodified restoration.
  • The instructions trim the gearbox protrusion and battery-holder tip for clearance. Bumper trimming is optional for additional arm travel. Use stock nonadjustable shocks at the specified upper hole, or set suitable adjustable shocks to roughly 5-7 mm loaded ride height.
  • Baseline front clearance is hub thickness plus wheel offset of 13 mm. Stock 5 mm hubs pair with 8 mm-offset wheels; a different hub/wheel combination must preserve actual linkage/body clearance. Stock short servo horn limits maximum angle; a longer compatible horn is recommended, not included.
  • Use a separate drift gyro, a compatible servo/radio/ESC/motor system, and drift wheels/tires suited to the surface. These electronics and tires are not supplied by the conversion pack. Match any replacement servo horn to the servo spline.
  • Adjust gyro gain to avoid steering oscillation, set servo end points after assembly, and check tires, body and linkage through the full suspension and steering range. Maker setup dimensions are starting points for its P-tile surface, not guaranteed settings for every surface.
