Tamiya's TB-05 PRO Chassis Kit is a 1/10 four-wheel-drive, shaft-driven touring car kit, sold without body, motor or tires.

Pinion The small gear on the motor shaft. Fewer teeth gear the car shorter: quicker acceleration, lower top speed and a cooler motor. More teeth do the opposite. On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, differentials and axle gears. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. Final drive How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed. On-road racers often compare gearing by rollout instead, because tire sizes differ between cars.

How these numbers were settled

Shaft-driven 4WD touring chassis kit with a longitudinal motor, a one-piece resin monocoque and oil gear differentials front and rear.

Tamiya prints no gear ratio for the kit itself; its 2026 All-Japan Championship rules list the TC-01 and TB-05(R) on a 63T spur with a 22T pinion at 7.16:1, which gives the ratio after the spur: 7.16 x 22/63 = 2.500.
The manual's gear table (PDF p. 26) prints 'Spur gear teeth (63T) / Pinion gear teeth x 2.5', which gives the kit spur and the ratio after it.
The pinion is not on the list of items to buy, and the page does not give its size, so the pinion and the final drive are left blank.
