Background
TA06 PRO revises Tamiya's touring-car layout around a central longitudinal battery and a rear-mounted motor. The drivetrain drives the rear through gears and sends power forward through two belts. Tamiya introduced kit 58492 in June 2011, with a molded monocoque frame designed around the weight distribution of brushless motors and contemporary battery packs. The front suspension can use horizontally mounted inboard dampers and rocker arms or an outboard arrangement. Oil-filled gear differentials are fitted at both ends. The PRO package supplies TRF special dampers, universal shafts, aluminum turnbuckles and full ball bearings. These are part of its starting specification rather than upgrades that every builder needs to add. Factory reference (opens in a new tab). Assembly manual (opens in a new tab).
The standard 68T spur and 23T pinion produce a published 6.41:1 final drive. Body, motor, tires, radio equipment and battery are separate purchases. For a restoration, check the actual front suspension arrangement and drivetrain parts before ordering by the TA06 name, since the family includes other equipment levels and later variants. How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Derived uses recorded dimensions or arithmetic. The row explains the inference. A nominal mating size is not a measured tolerance or a complete fitment guarantee.
- Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit.
Build and setup
Factory setup guide for this configuration.
Keep the standard 68T spur and 23T pinion as the reference for this PRO kit's published 6.41:1 final drive. Plan the motor, controller, tires and body as separate purchases rather than assuming a complete running package.[1] Exact factory product and historical description (opens in a new tab)[2] Exact factory assembly and setup manual (opens in a new tab)
Identify whether the front uses the inboard rocker arrangement or the optional outboard installation. Follow the corresponding damper and linkage drawings, then check belt tension and gear-differential assembly. Inspect the supplied universal shafts and TRF dampers before replacing them with parts that duplicate the PRO equipment.[1] Exact factory product and historical description (opens in a new tab)[2] Exact factory assembly and setup manual (opens in a new tab)
