Background
The Cobra MT-e RTR puts Serpent's off-road hardware into a 1/8 monster-truck package. It includes a 1940KV brushless motor, a 4S-capable 150A ESC, pre-mounted oversized tires and a painted body. A 3mm 7075-T6 aluminum chassis carries three oil-filled gear differentials, with a 52T spur at the center differential. Serpent (opens in a new tab).

Long suspension arms, front and rear CVD driveshafts and threaded big-bore shocks form the mechanical package. The battery trays use straps, and the car and transmitter batteries are supplied separately. Confirm the dimensions of a replacement battery before ordering; the product page does not give a measured tray envelope. Serpent (opens in a new tab).

How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
Build and setup
Factory setup guide for this configuration.
The Cobra MT-E RTR's tuning chapter provides three steering-plate positions for Ackermann: the first gives less, the second is the middle setting and the third gives more. It associates the ends of that range with open and tighter tracks respectively. Record the fitted position before comparing steering response, and keep wheelbase and spring changes separate from that comparison.[1] Cobra MT-e RTR 1/8 factory setup manual (opens in a new tab)
Set ride height with the spring-preload collars and keep the left and right adjustments consistent. Before changing the suspension setup, use the maintenance chapter to check smooth shock movement, clean wheel axles and driveshafts, and inspect differential gears for dirt or wear. Mechanical condition needs to be consistent before an oil or geometry change can be compared usefully.[1] Cobra MT-e RTR 1/8 factory setup manual (opens in a new tab)
