| MZW709Friction Damper Set for MR-04/MM | 1 |
Kyosho lists MZW709 for this McLaren. This is a component reference; use the current instructions and check body clearance through rear suspension travel.
Installation notes
- One MZW709 set contains the carbon friction plates and three spring stiffness choices. It is an MR-04/MM option, not an RM, LM or MM2 conversion package.
- The maker explicitly permits retaining the standard pitching shock. MZW432B rear oil shock and MZW708 aluminum oil shock mount are optional alternatives, not mandatory purchases.
- A completed 2025-10-20 owner assembly uses the standard plastic MM motor case with an aluminum post/base, two main-chassis spacers, lower spring/disc, upper disc/spring and securing screw. The owner EVO2 also has an FRP rear plate, gear diff and inner-tube pitching damper; it is not an exact brushed McLaren test.
- Do not extend this route to the Jaguar/Porsche LM or Porsche RM bodies solely because they also use MR-04 chassis.
- Retain the plastic MM pod top cover, H-plate and an appropriate pitching damper. Follow the current kit instructions for screws and spacers, and route motor leads clear of the friction plates throughout pod travel. Check clearance with the McLaren body fitted.
- Kyosho lists this part in the exact McLaren option directory, while its Japanese description emphasizes EVO2. The modified EVO2 owner example supports only that build; it does not establish a stock McLaren handling result.

- The MR-04/MM damper has three spring stiffnesses and permits the stock pitching damper or MZW432B. MZW708 is optional.
