Kyosho's KC10 is a 1/10 four-wheel-drive scale crawler chassis on a 317 mm wheelbase, sold as the Toyota Land Cruiser 60 readyset.

A 25T spur drives a two-speed transmission and axles that give 23.57:1 after the spur in low gear, where the gearbox is locked from the factory. High gear needs an optional shift kit and a third radio channel. For slow trail work the low range suits most owners; enter your pinion in the gearing tool to see the total.

On a chassis sold as kits, each kit brings its own. Spur The large gear the pinion drives. A bigger spur with the same pinion gears the car shorter. Pinion and spur must have the same pitch, or tooth size, to mesh. Transmission & axle Every reduction after the spur, multiplied together: transmission, transfer case and axle gears. That chain is why a crawler's figure is much higher than other classes'. It is fixed by the design; the gearing you change is the pinion and spur. This one is worked out from the tooth counts the maker publishes. Final drive How many times the motor turns for one turn of the wheels. A higher number is shorter gearing: more acceleration and pulling power, less top speed. Crawlers run far higher ratios than other classes, so the truck can creep and hold on a climb.

Tire diameter The outside diameter of the mounted tire, tread to tread. A taller tire covers more ground each turn, which gears the car taller. Crawler wheels are named by rim size, such as 1.9 or 2.2 inches; that is the wheel, not this tire diameter.

How these numbers were settled

The KC10 is sold as the Toyota Land Cruiser 60 readyset.

Kyosho's KC10 page lists 'Pinion Gear: 12T', 'Spur Gear: 25T', 'Gear Ratio Low: 49.11' and 'Gear Ratio High(w/ CLW001): 21.05', so the transmission and axle ratio after the spur works out at 49.11 x 12 / 25 = 23.57 in low gear (10.10 in high).
As delivered the two-speed transmission stays locked in low with the DIG disabled; high gear needs the optional CLW001 2-Speed Shift Kit.
