Installation notes
- The manufacturer 42373 photograph shows two 12T input gears and two 23T output gears, enough for both rear wheel ends. Replace both rear pairs together and retain stock 15T/20T pairs at the front.
- Retain serviceable 42367 universals, 42369 output shafts, 42393 drive pins, 42365 cases/covers, bearings and cover screws. Rebuild and grease each wheel end in its factory orientation; check free rotation and steering clearance.
- With equal axle input speeds, 20/15 stock portal reduction versus 23/12 rear reduction makes the rear wheels about 30.43% slower, or the front about 43.75% faster relative to the rear. These use different denominators and must not be called the same percentage.
- Existing transmission overdrive compounds with the wheel-end ratio. Calculate from the actual installed transmission gears and tire diameters, not a generic portal percentage; no stock specification or speed-calculator field is changed by this proposal.
- Use 42373 for the optional 12T/23T gears and retain the stock 42372 15T/20T pair at the front. Check the actual gear markings rather than relying on an older parts description.
