Rear gear differential for the 22X DC

Team Losi Racing 22X DC · TLR-1233

A gear differential changes the adjustment method from ball preload to silicone fluid. This route uses the documented 22X AC assembly as a mechanical reference; its thick carpet fill is an explicit starting recipe, not a dirt-track recommendation.

Upgrade notes

  • Requires TLR75008: 200,000CS silicone differential fluid, one bottle.
  • Separate fluid for this explicit AC-baseline assembly recipe; use only the needed fill, not the entire bottle.
  • Requires TLR77000: High-pressure black grease, one container.
  • Apply at the interfaces shown in the assembly diagrams; do not replace the silicone fill with grease.

Manufacturer parts and instructions support this configuration. No measured performance result is established.

Installation notes

  • Applies to TLR-1233 22X DC. TLR-1234 22X AC already contains a gear differential. The older 22 5.0 uses the separate TLR232088 G2 option; TLR-1210 is not a demonstrated replacement for that generation.
  • One TLR-1210 pack supplies the gears, hardware, O-rings, outdrives and seals for one differential; assembly is required. Retain the two serviceable LOSA6943 10x15x4 mm external differential bearings, TLR-1106 gearbox, idlers, layshaft, slipper, spur and rear CVA driveshafts.
  • Use TLR77000 black grease on the internal seal/washer interfaces shown in A1-A2 of the AC manual. Assemble the internal gears, pins and O-rings in the shown orientation. Use the supplied gasket and tighten the four cover screws in the numbered diagonal sequence.
  • This finite recipe uses TLR75008 200,000CS silicone fluid, the AC manual baseline. A3 specifies filling the shown open gear-diff subassembly to 18.54g on a 0.01g scale. This is the total depicted subassembly mass, not 18.54g of added oil. Different fluids change action and require a separate setup decision.
  • Refit the complete gear differential and retained external bearings in the DC gearbox; check free rotation and CVA seating before closing it. Retain installed motor, ESC, servo, receiver/transmitter, supported 2S system, wheels and gearing. No new wiring or chassis cutting is specified.
  • This changes the differential only. It does not convert the DC chassis into a complete AC specification: springs, sway bars, steering geometry and ride height remain separate. The tradeoff is fluid service and gearbox access; no lap-time or grip improvement is claimed.

  • TLR-1210 is a complete 22X differential package requiring assembly and a separate fluid choice.
TLR-1233 22X DC factory manual (opens in a new tab)
  • The 22X DC starts with a ball differential. The AC gear-diff assembly is a deliberate conversion reference, not original DC equipment.
TLR-1234 22X AC factory manual (opens in a new tab)
  • The 22X AC baseline uses 200000CS and 18.54g total for the pictured open subassembly on a 0.01g scale, not 18.54g of added fluid.
TLR75008 200,000CS silicone fluid (opens in a new tab)
  • TLR75008 is 200000CS fluid. The AC assembly baseline is not a stock setting for all models, and no CS-to-WT conversion is made.

  • TLR77000 is 8cc high-pressure black grease. It is not silicone differential fluid or a viscosity equivalent.
