Background
The RC10L3 Touring brought touring-car bodywork to Associated’s rear-drive pan-car format. The 8035 Team kit used a graphite chassis, a three-shock rear suspension, graphite-through axle, titanium turnbuckles and selected Jaco tires. Its 8030 Sport counterpart used a composite chassis, a simpler shock arrangement and bushings. Period factory material (opens in a new tab)

The manual distinguishes these packages and specifies a 190mm touring body selected by the builder. The drivetrain places its spur and differential on the rear axle, so it should not inherit the TC3’s four-wheel-drive gearbox ratio. Tire diameter and the chosen motor and pinion remain important individual setup measurements, particularly on a restored car with substituted foam tires or rear hubs. How to read these figures
- Stock is as the vehicle ships.
- Calculated is worked from the stock figures on this page rather than stored beside them, so the two cannot drift apart.
- Derived uses recorded dimensions or arithmetic. The row explains the inference. A nominal mating size is not a measured tolerance or a complete fitment guarantee.
- Not applicable means the vehicle does not come with it, like the motor on a roller or the tires on a race kit.
- Not published means it exists but no source we could find prints it.
Build and setup
Factory setup guide for this configuration.
Match the Team car’s graphite chassis, rear axle and three-shock suspension before selecting replacement pod or hub parts. Measure the fitted foam tires before choosing rollout, because wear changes the effective gearing. The spur and differential are mounted on the rear axle, giving a derived 1:1 internal factor. The Sport car’s composite chassis and simpler damper arrangement should remain separate when identifying an older car.[1] RC10L3 Touring Team Kit factory assembly material (opens in a new tab)

About these specs
The 1:1 internal factor is derived from the factory drawing and instructions placing the spur/differential directly on the rear axle. Motor and pinion are selected separately; measure the fitted foam tires for rollout.
