Background

TL-01 is Tamiya's shaft-driven four-wheel-drive touring chassis built around a tall enclosed monocoque frame. The manufacturer's Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge instructions identify kit 58289 and show the characteristic compact drivetrain, double-wishbone suspension and coil-spring dampers. The chassis carried different licensed bodies, so the complete kit number matters for the shell, wheels, tires and supplied equipment. The Ferrari manual shows a Type 540 motor and calls for the radio, controller and battery separately. Those details describe that numbered build rather than every TL-01 package. Factory reference (opens in a new tab).

A used TL-01 benefits from a mechanical baseline before more power is added. Inspect the enclosed gears, shaft joints, steering and suspension for wear or binding, and check whether the original plastic and metal bearing locations have already been changed. Keep the actual tire and pinion specification with the body kit when calculating speed or looking for replacement parts. Factory reference (opens in a new tab).
