Installation notes
- Use one 54194 ball-differential pack and one 53597 universal-shaft pair for the front axle. The manufacturer explicitly limits 54194 on MF-01X to the front; do not buy two sets for both axles.
- 54194 includes the differential housing/joints, gears, adjustment and thrust hardware plus 850 and 1510 bearings. 53597 includes two 30 mm universals with axles, cross joints/pins and grease. Retain the standard front knuckles/hub carriers, suspension and remainder of the drivetrain.
- For off-road use Tamiya recommends 54238 M-05Ra reinforced ball-differential joints. That is a reinforcement branch, not a second complete differential; it replaces the corresponding supplied joints.
- Tamiya also lists 42300 double-cardans but warns that contact areas at uprights/hub carriers need shaving. This recipe selects the ordinary 53597 pair and does not silently substitute that modified double-cardan assembly.
- Use this as a front-axle combination. Other differential options need their own supporting shafts and should not be combined with this bill.
