Installation notes
- This recipe is scoped to BBX 58719 on BB-01. It does not establish applicability to BB-02 or other retro buggies.
- Use one 22071 set. It supplies the replacement 20T shaft, 86T spur, inner/outer pressure plates, two pads, spring, slipper screw, two flanged tubes, lock nut and one 1050 bearing.
- Retain the stock gearbox and its other 1050 bearing. The drawing explicitly marks that bearing as not included; the shaft replaces the kit main shaft and its separate 20T gear.
- Align the octagonal pad sections and shaft/plate recesses. The standard adjustment is fully tightened then backed off four turns, with approximately 4.8 mm shown at the nut end.
- Avoid continuous driving with excessive slip because the instructions warn of spur overheating. Confirm the pad, plate, spring and nut assembly against the drawing before changing clutch preload.
- Tamiya USA installed this in a 13.5T sensored build and explains its purpose. That factory demonstration does not establish a universal motor, ESC or battery limit, or a requirement for every stock-power BBX.
